The biggest plastic waste generated in our personal care routine is probably from our shower routine. Those empty shampoo and conditioner bottles can pile up faster than we can expect and are pretty hard to reuse too.
The past few months I have been trying to cut down on my plastic usage. And the launch of Soapwork India’s solid conditioner bar was perfectly timed as I ran out my Soultree Hibiscus Conditioner.
How Does A Solid Conditioner Bar Work?
Solid conditioner bars work great as a zero-waste alternative to condition your hair. Regular conditioners have water as the base ingredient and hence have to be packed in a bottle, jar or tube.
A solid conditioner doesn’t contain any water. So what remains is a concentrated block of hair conditioning and moisturising ingredients.
When used, the water from wet hair helps distribute these ingredients from the conditioner bar onto the hair.
But does Soapworks India’s Solid Conditioner Bar work as good as a conventional conditioner? Read my experience below to find out.

My Experience Using Soapworks India Solid Conditioner Bar:
When I received the conditioner bar, I expected it to be hard like soap bars. But instead, it was quite soft and slippery too.
In fact, the oils from soap soaked most the paper pouch during transit and wiped off all details printed on it. But this is a temporary issue as Soapworks is working on other packaging options.
The soap glides easily on wet hair and emulsifies with water to form a layer of conditioner on the hair. I leave it on for 5 minutes before rinsing off.
The Soapworks India solid conditioner bar works similar to normal liquid or cream conditioners. It conditioned my hair well and made detangling quite easy. The reason being the ingredients used in this soap bar are the same as the ones used in conventional conditioners sans the water.
The conditioner bar is nourishing and helps tame frizz too without weighing down the hair. Just 3-4 swipes over the hair does the job.
I have been using for over 2 months now and haven’t even used up even a quarter of it. The brand claims it can last up to 100 washes. So if you wash your hair twice a week, it could last you almost an entire year.
- Conditions and detangles well
- Zero waste conditioner
- Will last quite long
- Economically priced
- Clean ingredients
- Does not weigh down hair.
- Can’t find any!
Soapworks India has given us a wonderful zero waste option for hair conditioner that performs just like a conventional alternative. The economical pricing is commendable too.
I have no regrets for purchasing the Soapworks India Conditioner bar and neither will you.
