Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipstick- 08 Begum Review
Last Updated on April 2, 2024
Last month Nykaa launched its own Liquid lipstick range called the Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipstick. This Liquid lipstick quickly surrounded itself in controversies with many bloggers bashing it up for everything from formula to packaging.
But is it really that bad? Find out in this review.

About the Product:
There are total 10 shades in the range, each inspired by an Indian city. It comes in a cardboard packaging. The lipstick itself comes in a small plastic bottle with black detailing(Same as the Stay Quirky Lipsticks).
The lipstick shade is clearly visible due to the transparent bottle. It has a leaf-shaped applicator which makes the application convenient.
Ingredients:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Paraffin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cera Alba, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Behenyl Methacrylate/ T-Butyl methacrylate copolymer, Parfum, Talc, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pearls and Approved Colors.
My Experience Using Nykaa Liquid Lipstick:
Shade:
Now I ordered the shade Begum since it seemed like nice deep mauve in the swatches but sadly the shade is lighter in real. Also, the shade Begum has golden shimmer particles which are visible on lips, a huge disappointment. The shade will suit all skin tones.
Formula:
The Nykaa Liquid lipstick has a soft, lightweight formula which glides on easily. It takes a good 2-3 minutes to dry and set completely matte.
One set, it does not transfer or smudge until you eat or drink something. You cannot layer this lipstick as it will crumble on the lips if you touch it or purse your lips.
A single swipe gives good colour payoff (about 80%) so layering can be avoided. The good thing about this lipstick is it’s non-drying unlike some other liquid lipsticks and sits well on the lips.
An oil-based makeup remover is necessary to completely wipe it off from lips. I had a hard time taking it off my hands during the swatch but it easier to remove from the lips.
Performance:
This is where the Nykaa Liquid lipstick disappoints majorly. It promises to last forever but hardly stays for 4-5 hours and then starts fading.
If you have a meal, it fades away completely leaving just a stain behind. Reapplication is a must post eating. The claim of lasting all day is clearly false and a huge letdown.

Final Thoughts on Nykaa Matte To Last Liquid Lipstick in Begum:
This is an average liquid lipstick for its price. There are better formulations in the same price range like the PAC Retro Matte or Wet N Wild Catsuit lipstick. These last longer and offer more product quantity and pigmentation.
The reason Nykaa Liquid lipstick failed badly was that Nykaa made huge claims about this lipstick, which it clearly did not live up to.
And with the huge marketing campaign on social media including a music video, the launch was eagerly anticipated by everyone. If they spent more money on perfecting the formula rather than marketing it, it could have been a success. I won’t recommend the Nykaa Liquid lipstick since the price paid is simply not worth it.

I have also the same kind of review like you. The color is not so pigmented as the brand claims. It is transferable. It has a very short staying power. The Nykaa team sent me a e-mail after I purchased it’s Liquid Lipstick Dilli. And I gave them my honest review but I think they don’t want to reveal the actual review of their cheated customers. They had not posted it on their website. Though I used a very decent language. RS.550/_ doesn’t worth it, so I advice not to purchase any product of Nykaa, because they charge very high for their launched product. But yes, for The other brand skincare product they sell at a discount price I agree. therefore I generally purchased from their website

It is true that they don’t take criticism well. Their products sell easily due to blogger collaborations so I guess they are not really concerned.

oops, I am sorry that you didn’t like the product. Somehow the shades from this collection lasted decently well on me, they even lasted a non-oily meal too.
I haven’t tried the PAC Retro Matte lipsticks but I agree with you on Wet N wild Catsuit lipsticks. Great review though!

Lucky you Swati! There are mixed reviews regarding this collection, and the performance varies with the shade range. Like the lighter shades are less opaque while Begum just requires one swipe for decent coverage. Definitely try your hands on PAC liquid lipsticks and I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
