I have been a big fan of Tresemme over the last few years but when I learned about the bad effects of silicones, I decided to switch to a silicone free conditioner. I was on the lookout for a good hair masque too and so bought this Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hair masque since it is meant for very dry hair and can be used both as a conditioner and a masque.
Like the aloe plant that never seems to dry, biolage Ultra Hydrasource helps optimize moisture balance. Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Aloe Hydrating Masque revives dry strands with an intense conditioning treatment.

My Experience using Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hair Masque:
This is the first silicone free conditioner or mask that I have tried. I have oily scalp but the hair ends have become quite dry in the past few months so I decided to give this masque a try since it was also silicone and paraben free. The Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hair Masque is thicker than regular conditioners yet a bit lighter than most hair masques. You know the difference just by rubbing it between the fingers since it does not have that slick silicone-y feel to it.
Post-shampoo, I use a coin-sized amount and apply it to hair strands starting at the tips and then moving up to mid-length. I leave it for around 3-4 minutes and then rinse it out. Once a month I use double the quantity and apply it all over the hair for 10-15 minutes as a deep conditioner.
This masque is truly amazing since it conditions dry hair very well without weighing it down. Even if you go overboard with the quantity, it does not leave hair flat or limp. It detangles all knots and leaves hair bouncy and shiny. I have used it around scalp too while deep-conditioning and did not weigh down my hair. It also helps keep frizziness in check up to an extent (if your hair is frizzy due to lack of moisture). The quantity is huge and has lasted for 6 months since I mostly use this as a conditioner and you need very little quantity of it that way. I still have enough to cover a couple of months more.
It works really well on dry or very dry hair. But if you have normal hair, you can use this once or twice a month to deep condition your hair. Overall, I am really happy with the performance but I will not be repurchasing this again since this does have artificial fragrance despite being paraben and silicone free. Also, aloe vera is mentioned way too low on the ingredient list, so it is just for marketing purposes and won’t make any difference to your hair.
Silicone and paraben free
Softens and moisturizes dry hair very well
Does not weigh down hair
Works well as both conditioner and masque
Huge quantity for the price
Controls frizz to an extent
Affordable and easily available
Wills suit all hair types
Has artificial fragrance
The huge pack is not easy to carry around
Aloe vera is mentioned just for marketing purposes
The Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hair Masque is a good silicone and paraben free deep conditioner for all hair types, especially dry hair. The masque is very cost effective and will last long. The artificial scent added includes skin irritants and allergens so its best avoided if you have skin allergies. Other than that there are really no issues with this one. A great buy for dry hair.
