I have been looking for a good mineral-based sunscreen for so long but couldn’t find a suitable option in India. Hence, picked up the Mamaearth Ultra light sunscreen a couple a months ago.
This sunscreen has a mix of chemical and physical filters and offers broad-spectrum sun protection too. After using it for over 2 months, here is my detailed experience and review to help you decide whether you should pick this up too.
Product Claims of Mamaearth Ultra Light Sunscreen:
Mamaearth’s Ultra-Light Indian Sunscreen with SPF 50 is specially curated for Indian skin tones. It provides up to 6 hours of protection against harsh UVA & UVB rays. It doesn’t dry out your skin and keeps it moisturised, without making it patchy.
Natural ingredients such as turmeric treat tan and keep your skin glowing whereas orange oil increases skin’s ability to absorb the cream, making it non-oily. Mamaearth Ultra-Light Indian Sunscreen is free from all harmful toxins such as paraben, mineral oil, silicone etc.
Price: 499 for 80ml
Shelf life: 24 months

My Experience Using Mamaearth Ultra Light Sunscreen:
The sunscreen has a really light consistency and does not feel greasy at all even on my oily skin. It takes about 5-10 seconds to blend into the skin completely after which it gives a nice matte finish.
There is no white cast so the sunscreen can be used by people of all skin tones.
Even after wearing it for a few hours, it doesn’t make my skin oily or sweaty. I often skip my moisturizer when I am wearing this and my skin feels well-moisturised.
So if you have oily skin, you won’t have to worry much about applying too many layers of products. The sunscreen has several skin-conditioning agents like glycerin, triheptanoin, propanediol etc. that take of moisturization.
Also, there have been no breakouts, so I will recommend people with acne-prone skin to give it a try too.
Coming down to the sun protection, it offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays. The UV filters used are mix of chemical and physical filters. So along with titanium dioxide, there is Parsol MCX, avobenzone and octocrylene to provide broad-spectrum sun protection.
