Greenie Mill Seabuckthorn & Pink Lotus Facewash Review

greenie mill facewash review

For the better part of 2018, I had been using powder cleansers in my AM and PM routine and loving it too. But with the onset of summers, the powder cleansers seemed to be insufficient for PM routine.

So I decided to pick up a face wash again and went with Greenie Mill’s Seabuckthorn & Pink Lotus Facewash. I was spoiled for choice between this and Soultree’s Nutgrass face wash and ended up buying this one due to a discount offer from the brand.

Here is my experience after using it for over a month now.

Product claims:

Formulated with wild harvested sea buckthorn juice, pink lotus and cucumber extracts, this facial cleanser is packed with skin loving vitamin C, carotenoids, xanthophylls, phenolics, and flavonoids. This mild foaming cleanser cleanses your skin without stripping the natural oils. Salicylic acid helps to clear out congested pores and keep your skin free from blemishes.

Directions to use:

Wet your face with water. Take out a small coin-sized amount of face wash on your palm. Gently lather on the face for a few seconds. Rinse away with water and pat dry with a soft towel.

My experience:

One of the reasons that attracted me to this facewash is the ingredient list. The brand has used seabuckthorn juice, neroli hydrosol and aloe vera juice as a base instead of plain water like most liquid face washes.

Secondly, the surfactant sodium cocoyl isethionate, also called ‘baby foam’ is extremely gentle on skin. It also contains honey and allantoin- both skin-soothing ingredients.

And to top it off is the salicylic acid, although not so effective as in a leave on product, it is a happy addition along with cucumber and pink lotus extracts. The ingredient list is clean and complete, often a challenge with most natural brands in India.

This Greenie Mill facewash generates a minuscule amount of foam but cleanses rather well. There is no stretchy feel to the skin. Instead, my skin felt soft and hydrated after using it.

Only a few drops of it are required to cleanse the face and neck. Due to high summer temperatures, the extracts liquified in the bottle with a brownish liquid on top and a yellowish gel at the bottom.

The owner ensured me it won’t affect the efficacy of the facewash. This happened as there are no stabilizers added to the formula. I have to shake the bottle well before every use to help it emulsify temporarily which is a bit inconvenient. Hopefully, this occurrence won’t repeat during other seasons.

Other than that, I have no issues with this Greenie Mill Facewash. The formula is pH balanced and the bottle should last a good 2-3 months when used twice daily.
